Buganda Heritage Children's Luganda
Teaching programme.
Buganda Heritage is developing and running a children's
programme to teach Baganda children their mother tongue and culture.
As resources become available, the programme will be expanded to include
after school supplementary classed for some subjects according to the
needs of the youngsters.
Currently the programme is run in collaboration with other Baganda community
organisations in the UK and runs as follows:
- A Luganda language study club, ran in association with Okusinza
mm Lulimi Oluganda, (Church of Uganda congregation who worship in
Luganda, every Fist Sunday of the month, at Waterloo)
- A Luganda language study club ran in association with The Black
and Ethnic Minority Welfare Organisation (BECWO), Corydon.
- A Luganda language study club ran with African Community Involvement
Association (ACIA) in Mitcham.
- A Luganda language study club ran with the Uganda Catholic Community,
who worship in Luganda on the Last Sunday of the Month in Holloway.
And
- A Luganda language study club ran with a parents' group in Brent
to cover the North and North West of London.
A Luganda language teaching development programme, commissioned
and to being undertaken with the help of the Luganda Society, Kampala
Uganda. This includes course structure, syllabus and resource and teaching
aids.
